Antidiabetic potential of Guizotia Abyssinica cass seed oil in Wistar Albino rats - An experimental approach

Guizotia abyssinica Cass. widely grown plant of southern India, seed oil which are said to be healthy source oil. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder affecting major population worldwide. Nutritive oils and fats essential in current scenario. Hence antidiabetic property Cass tested Streptozotocin induced diabetes Wistar albino Rats. Materials methods: Test drug collected, authenticated, prepared. Study was conducted Rats inducing with Intra peritoneal injection Streptozotocin. The animals under different test groups received Glibenclamide as standard drug; single Double dose G. the effect observed by analysing serum glucose, lipid profile, weight Liver histopathological changes liver pancreas after 21 days experiment. Results: disclosed decrease Serum Sugar level. It has also shown total cholesterol, LDL not showed significant increase HDL. Histopathological observation proved safety aspect preventing cytotoxic STZ.
